Tsukimi Pizza Japan 2026: Pizza Hut and Domino's Dates, Prices, and How Long They Last

Every autumn, Japan turns its seasonal foods into "tsukimi" (月見, moon-viewing) editions, usually with a runny egg standing in for the full moon. The tsukimi burger gets all the attention, but pizza chains join in too.

For 2026, both Pizza Hut and Domino's Japan are running tsukimi menus, and they could hardly be more different, from what's on the menu to how long they last. Pizza Hut runs until November 1; Domino's ends September 30. Domino's doesn't even start until August 31, so there's nothing to order there in late August.

Tsukimi Pizza 2026 at a Glance

The two runs start within a week of each other, but Domino's ends more than a month before Pizza Hut, so check the end date before you plan a visit.

Pizza Hut: Sukiyaki Tsukimi Pizza

Pizza Hut's tsukimi run is the long one: August 24 (Mon) through November 1 (Sun), 2026.

Sukiyaki Tsukimi Pizza (すき焼き月見ピザ) — takeout M ¥2,230

Beef simmered in a sweet-savory sukiyaki sauce, topped with a mild soft-egg-style sauce and shungiku (chrysanthemum greens), plus shiitake and shirataki. Takeout is S ¥1,490 / M ¥2,230 / L ¥3,150; delivery is S ¥2,140 / M ¥3,190 / L ¥4,500. The single-serving MY BOX is ¥990 takeout, ¥1,300 delivery.

Teri-Mayo Tsukimi Pizza (テリマヨ月見ピザ) — takeout M ¥1,980

Sweet teriyaki chicken and a house mayo sauce layered with the same soft-egg-style sauce. The S, M, and L sizes come with a side of shredded nori. Takeout is S ¥1,310 / M ¥1,980 / L ¥2,750; delivery is S ¥1,880 / M ¥2,830 / L ¥3,930.

There are also two combination pizzas that put four flavors on a single pie: the Sukiyaki Tsukimi Gochiso 4 and the Sukiyaki Tsukimi Variety 4 (sizes and prices are on the Pizza Hut site).

On top of that, during the campaign (Aug 24 – Nov 1, 2026) you can order one qualifying pizza and get a second one free for takeout, or half price for delivery. A tsukimi pizza can be ordered as the qualifying first pizza. You can order through the Pizza Hut website and app, in store, or by phone, for both takeout and delivery.

Domino's: "Haitoku Tsukimi" (Guilty Moon-Viewing)

Domino's runs from August 31 (Mon) to September 30 (Wed), 2026, so it wraps up well before Pizza Hut. And unlike some past years, 2026 isn't a "Tsukimi Quattro" pizza year. This time the campaign, called Haitoku Tsukimi ("guilty moon-viewing"), has no tsukimi pizza of its own. The stars are dipping sauces to pair with any pizza, plus a dessert.

Three Otsukimi Cheese Sauces (お月見チーズソース) — ¥799 each

Three dipping sauces styled after the phases of the moon: a rich cheddar ("new moon"), a half-and-half cheddar-and-camembert ("half moon"), and a creamy camembert ("full moon"). You dip your pizza into them as you go.

Otsukimi Egg Tarts (お月見エッグタルト) — 20 for ¥2,399 / 40 for ¥4,099

Domino's answer to stacked tsukimi dango: little egg tarts you pile up like moons. Flaky pastry is filled with smooth custard and baked in-store after you order. The 20-piece box is billed as "almost one pound," and the 40-piece box as "almost one kilogram."

The sauces and tarts also come in sets with a pizza. The Otsukimi Cheese Sauce Set starts at ¥1,899 for takeout, and the full-course set (pizza, a sauce, and a 20-piece tart box) starts at ¥3,099 for takeout, depending on the pizza size.

Which One to Pick

If you want an actual meal, go with Pizza Hut — the Sukiyaki Tsukimi Pizza, with its simmered beef and soft-egg sauce, is a real dinner. If you're sharing with a group and want the novelty items and a dessert, Domino's cheese sauces and egg tarts are more fun.

Just remember that Domino's ends on September 30. Once October starts, only Pizza Hut is left, so order the Haitoku Tsukimi in September if it caught your eye.

What "Tsukimi" Food Actually Is

Tsukimi means moon-viewing, tied to the old custom of watching the harvest moon on the 15th night of the eighth lunar month. In 2026 that night falls on Friday, September 25. Tsukimi foods traditionally use a soft egg or round yolk to stand in for the full moon, and the soft-egg-style sauce on these pizzas is that same visual pun.
