Rilakkuma x Coleman 2026: Where to Buy, Only 6 Loft Stores

San-X has announced a Japan release for a Rilakkuma collaboration with the American outdoor brand Coleman. The collection runs to 11 items, from plush toys to bags, at ¥825 to ¥9,350 including tax.

It reaches stores on Saturday, August 1, 2026, and the San-X Net Shop on Monday, August 3 at 10 a.m. JST.

San-X's release lists the retailers as "Rilakkuma Stores nationwide, Rilakkuma no Yu, Rilakkuma Sabo, and Loft stores (excluding some)." Open the actual retailer list, though, and Loft comes down to six branches.

Only six Loft branches carry this collection: Sendai, Chiba, Ikebukuro, Yokohama, Niigata, and Kyoto.

Release dates: August 1 in stores, August 3 online

The in-store and online releases are two days apart.

Where to buy: 31 stores plus online

San-X lists five places to buy: Rilakkuma Store, Loft, Rilakkuma no Yu, Rilakkuma Sabo, and the San-X Net Shop. San-X hasn't said whether Loft's own online store or Coleman's official online shop will carry it; neither is among the five.

Count up the retailer list San-X published and you get 31 physical stores: 20 Rilakkuma Stores, six Loft branches, three Rilakkuma no Yu shops, and two Rilakkuma Sabo cafés.

San-X adds three caveats: some stores will not carry the items, stock may run out, and the release date may shift at some stores. Not all 31 will have the collection out on August 1.

The list is not final either. On July 21, 2026, San-X posted that it had "updated the information on the Loft retailer list," so check the current file before you set out.

That file is one Japanese table — store name, address, phone number — with no section headings. The six Loft rows run directly below the 20 Rilakkuma Store rows, and each of those store names ends in the katakana ロフト.

Every one of the 31 rows has a phone number, which is what you want if you are calling ahead.

The announcement says nothing about shipping. Check the San-X Net Shop product pages when the online sale opens.

Only six Loft branches

As of the end of May 2026, Loft had 185 stores in Japan — 158 company-run, 27 franchised. Six of them carry this collection.

Search the store name — "Kyoto Loft," "Chiba Loft" — in your map app rather than typing the address.

Ikebukuro is the only Tokyo Loft on the list. Shibuya, Ginza, and Shinjuku Sanchome are not.

One trap in Ikebukuro: there are two Loft stores, Ikebukuro Loft and Ikebukuro Sunshine City Loft, and only the first is on the list.

Sunshine City does have a Rilakkuma Store, and that one is on the list. The Loft is on 1F of Sunshine City Alpa and the Rilakkuma Store is on 2F, so head for the Rilakkuma Store, not the Loft.

All 20 Rilakkuma Stores

Every one of the 20 Rilakkuma Stores appears on the retailer list. Kiddy Land runs the chain.

Five of the 20 are the ones I would point a first-time visitor to — three in Tokyo, two in Kansai. In Tokyo: the Tokyo Station branch on B1 of Tokyo Station Ichibangai, the Harajuku branch inside Kiddy Land Harajuku, and the Ikebukuro Sunshine City branch on 2F of Sunshine City Alpa.

In Kansai: the Osaka Umeda branch on 1F of Hankyu Sanbangai North Building and the Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi branch on Kawaramachi-dori. Umeda is one of central Osaka's main shopping districts; Kawaramachi is one of Kyoto's.

The other 15, in San-X's listing order: Sapporo PARCO (Hokkaido), Sendai (Miyagi), Koshigaya Lake Town (Saitama), Fujimi (Saitama), Kichijoji (Tokyo), Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi (Tokyo), Shinjuku (Tokyo), Yokohama (Kanagawa), Nagoya PARCO (Aichi), Nagoya (Aichi), Shinsaibashi PARCO (Osaka), EXPOCITY (Osaka), Abeno Q's Mall (Osaka), Kobe (Hyogo), and Fukuoka PARCO (Fukuoka).

That makes seven locations in Tokyo: Ikebukuro Loft plus six Rilakkuma Stores — Kichijoji, Tokyo Station, Solamachi, Harajuku, Ikebukuro Sunshine City, and Shinjuku.

Three Rilakkuma no Yu shops and two Rilakkuma Sabo cafés

The collection also reaches the Rilakkuma shops in tourist towns. Terakoya Co., Ltd. (株式会社寺子屋) runs them under license from San-X.

"Yu" (湯) is the word for hot water that Japanese bathhouses put on their signs, so Rilakkuma no Yu (りらっくまの湯) reads like a bathhouse. It isn't one.

It's a souvenir shop with a hot-spring theme, and San-X drops the town name into the middle: "Omiyagedokoro (souvenir shop) Kurokawa Rilakkuma no Yu," for instance.

The store directory on the Rilakkuma Sabo (りらっくま茶房) website lists four Rilakkuma no Yu shops: Kusatsu, Dogo, Kurokawa, and Arashiyama. Three of them carry the collection — Kusatsu (Gunma), Dogo (Ehime), and Kurokawa (Kumamoto).

Both Rilakkuma Sabo cafés are on the list: Miyajima (Hiroshima) and Arashiyama (Kyoto).

Arashiyama: one address, two shops

The retailer list names Rilakkuma Sabo Arashiyama, but Arashiyama Rilakkuma no Yu shares the same address — 15 Sagatenryuji Kitatsukurimichi-cho, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto. The souvenir shop and the café are in the same building.

The phone number on the retailer list, 075-863-2666 (+81 75-863-2666 from abroad), is the souvenir shop's line. San-X does not say which of the two shops will stock the collection, so call ahead. Assume the call will be in Japanese, so ask your hotel front desk to make it for you.

The 11 items: ¥825 to ¥9,350

San-X has published 11 items: four plush toys, three bags and pouches, and four smaller goods. San-X describes it as a unisex line with "calm, simple designs" meant for both the outdoors and everyday use.

A price marked "each" (各) means the item comes in more than one design. Five of the 11 are marked that way: the palm-size plush, the hanging plush, the collectible plush, the sticker set, and the paired keychains.

Dimensions and materials do not appear anywhere in the announcement, so you will be sizing these up in the store or from the online product pages. Four of the 11 are below, cheapest first: the cheapest item in the collection, the one to buy in multiples, and the two Rilakkuma-ear bags at the top of the range.

Palm-Size Plush (¥2,200 each)

It sits in the palm of your hand and comes in several designs. This is the one to buy if you have a list of people to bring things back for.

Rilakkuma-Ear Shoulder Bag (¥7,150)

Two bags in the lineup have Rilakkuma's ears on them, and this is the shoulder version, ¥2,200 less than the backpack. San-X has not published dimensions or capacity for either, so the choice comes down to how you want to carry it.

The other ear bag, and the most expensive item in the collection — ¥2,200 more than the shoulder version. It is also one of only three items that clear the tax-free threshold on their own.

The rest of the lineup: Palm-Size Plush Set (¥3,850), Hanging Plush (¥3,300 each), Collectible Plush (¥5,500 each), Pouch (¥3,080), Clear Folder Set (¥880, plastic document folders), Mini Towel (¥880), and Paired Keychains (¥1,760 each).

San-X does not say how many plush toys come in the Palm-Size Plush Set.

Numbered tickets and lotteries: no official announcement

Neither the release nor the official blog says anything about numbered tickets, advance lotteries, entry limits, or a cap on how many items one person may buy. That is silence, not a promise that the shops will be quiet.

San-X has already flagged that stock may run out and that some stores will start later. If you are going on day one, August 1, have someone call the store first.

Tax-free: the ¥5,000 line, and five of the six Lofts

Tax-free shopping on general goods requires at least ¥5,000 before tax, at the same store on the same day (as of July 2026). All 11 items here are general goods, taxed at 10%.

If your total for the day at one store comes to less than ¥5,500 including tax, you are under ¥5,000 before tax and the purchase does not qualify.

Three items clear the line on their own: the Rilakkuma-Ear Backpack (¥9,350), the Rilakkuma-Ear Shoulder Bag (¥7,150), and the Collectible Plush (¥5,500 each). The collectible plush lands exactly on ¥5,000 before tax, which meets the "¥5,000 or more" rule.

Everything else has to be combined. The Palm-Size Plush is ¥2,200 including tax, or ¥2,000 before tax, so three of them come to ¥6,000 and qualify. One ¥825 sticker set or one ¥880 mini towel does not.

Loft's own tax-free store list, current as of May 2026, covers five of the six branches on the retailer list: Sendai, Chiba, Ikebukuro, Yokohama, and Kyoto. Niigata Loft is not on it.

For stores outside that list, Loft adds that "tax-free purchases may still be possible at the tax refund counter of the shopping complex." Niigata Loft sits inside LoveLa Bandai, so the building's counter may be able to handle it.

There is a fee: Loft states that "a handling fee of 1.55% of the total purchase amount will be charged for tax-free processing." Loft does not publish where the counter is or how the refund is paid.

Kiddy Land publishes a "HARAJUKU TAX-FREE SHOP" page for its Harajuku store. The Rilakkuma Store Harajuku branch is inside that building, at 6-1-9 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku. For the other Rilakkuma Stores, and for the Rilakkuma Sabo and Rilakkuma no Yu shops, I could not find any official statement on tax-free handling.

So ask three things at the register: whether the store handles tax-free at all, where the counter is, and how the refund comes back to you.

Landing permission sticker: airport only, no later fix

Under the tax-free rules, the exemption applies to the purchaser in person, and you need your actual passport, not a copy.

The automated arrival gates do not stamp your passport, and without the landing permission sticker no shop can process the exemption. A few travelers, such as Trusted Traveler card holders, are exceptions.

You have to ask an immigration officer for the sticker at the airport — after the automated gate, before customs. It cannot be added later, and there is no workaround at the register.

Rilakkuma and Coleman

San-X launched Rilakkuma in September 2003. The cast includes Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma, Kiiroitori (the yellow bird), and Chairoikoguma (the brown cub).

The official shops are the 20 Rilakkuma Stores run by Kiddy Land, plus two Rilakkuma Sabo cafés and four Rilakkuma no Yu shops run by Terakoya.

Coleman started in Oklahoma in 1900 and is best known for lanterns and coolers. It has been in Japan since 1976, and the Japanese business is now part of Newell Brands Japan G.K.
